
As part of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Clean Cities Program, all coalitions nationwide are required to submit an annual survey to illustrate the progress made to increase the number of alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) in their region. For the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition (C5) our ongoing survey is critical to maintaining DOE "Clean City" designation. The survey information is also used by DOE to prepare a report to Congress, as required by the Energy Policy Act, to illustrate the success and benefits this program provides nationwide.

Onboard Idle Reduction	Project that reduce onboard idling of example include, auxiliary power unit (heating and air-conditioning for truck cab/sleeper, heat for engine and power for auxiliaries, direct-fire heater - direct-fire heater plus idle cooling, direct heat with thermal storage cooling - heating and air-conditioning of cab/sleeper and heat for engine, thermal storage - cab heating and air conditioning only
Other Idle Reduction	Other idle reduction projects not included in categories above (example posting signs to reduce truck idling at load facilites).
Blends	Project that used new dispensing facilites or distribution facilites list the type of blend handled (ie. B2 - 2% biodiesel, B5 - 5% biodiesel, B10 - 10% biodiesel, B20 - 20% biodiesel, E10 - 10% ethanol.
Fuel Economy	List any project that increase the fuel ecomony of a project or fleet. (ie sold diesel trucks in a fleet that got 10 mile/gallon and replaced them with hybirds that got 40 miles/gallon).
Vehicle Mile Travels	List projects that reduced the number of vehilce miles traveled per year (example implemented an employee trip reduction program that elimated 10 miles per week of travel, or telecommute one day per week to reduce one commute trip of 20 miles).
Off Road	List any off road vehicles opearted on alternative fuel.
